PRODUCT · YARD OPS

Truck yard parking software, built around how your yard actually runs.

A live map of every spot in your yard, customer accounts with balances, accounting that separates parking from tax, and an AI assistant that answers questions about your yard in plain English. We run it as a working platform and build it to fit your operation.

The short version

Young Boss Parking is truck yard management software: a live map of every spot in your yard, customer accounts with balances, accounting and aging reports with Canadian tax split out, an activity log, staff and admin roles, and an AI assistant that answers questions about your yard in plain English. We run it as a working platform and build it to fit your operation.

  • Your actual yard, drawn to scale. Not a spreadsheet with spot numbers — your real site plan, every spot in its real position, colour-coded by status.
  • Money is first-class. Occupancy, revenue, outstanding balances and expiring rentals on one screen, with parking and tax separated everywhere they appear.
  • Ask it questions. “Who is overdue and how much is outstanding?” gets you a real answer from live yard data, not a report you have to read.
  • Then we fit it to you. Your lots, your spot types, your rates, your billing cycle, your rules about who can do what.

Where it runs today

Four truck yards run on Young Boss Parking today. What it takes off them is the admin nobody has a job title for: month-end billing rebuilt by hand from a notebook, the daily round of “which spots are actually free,” chasing rentals about to lapse, and re-litigating payment dates from memory.

For a yard of 150 to 200 spots that adds up to roughly 15 hours a month — six to eight of them at month-end, about five in daily availability checks, and the rest in chasing and disputes. That is an estimate built from the tasks the software removes, not a lab number, so check it against your own yard: if your month-end takes a morning rather than a day, scale it down.

What running a yard usually looks like

Most truck yards are run on a whiteboard, a spreadsheet and somebody’s memory. It works until it doesn’t. A driver arrives and nobody is sure which spots are actually free. A customer insists they paid through the end of the month and there is no clean record either way. Month-end means rebuilding an invoice list by hand from a notebook. Somebody leaves and the yard’s history leaves with them.

None of that is a discipline problem. It is what happens when the yard exists in one format — physical, spatial, changing hourly — and the records exist in another.

The six screens

Map — your yard, live

The map is the app’s home screen and the reason it clicks for yard staff immediately. It is your real site plan with every parking spot drawn in its true position, not an abstract grid.

  • Status at a glance. Every spot is coloured: vacant, rented, ending soon, overdue, reserved or maintenance. A running count sits at the top — 168 of 189 vacant, and the same numbers repeat as filter chips so one click isolates every overdue spot.
  • Filter by lot and type. Multi-lot yards filter to Lot A, Lot B and so on. Spot types filter separately, so “show me every oversize spot that is free” is two clicks.
  • Colour by status or by type. A toggle switches what the colours mean, depending on whether you are placing a truck or auditing the yard.
  • Assign, reserve and hold. Click a spot to rent it to a customer, place a hold, or mark it out for maintenance.
  • Multi-select and bulk assign. Select a run of spots and assign them in one action — the difference between onboarding a twenty-truck customer in a minute and in twenty.
  • Zoom and fit. Large yards pan and zoom; one button fits the whole site back on screen.

Customers — who is in the yard and what they owe

Every customer is a record: contact details, the spots they hold, what they have paid, what they owe and the date they are paid through. The customer view is the answer to “is this account current?” without opening a spreadsheet, and it is the same data the reports and the AI assistant read from, so there is one version of the truth.

Reports — accounting that matches the yard

Four numbers sit at the top of the reports screen: occupancy (spots occupied out of total), revenue for the period, outstanding with a count of overdue spots, and rentals expiring within 30 days, which is the one that quietly protects your revenue.

  • Periods. 1M, 3M, 6M, 12M, 2Y, year-to-date or all time.
  • Revenue over time as a month-by-month chart, so seasonality is visible rather than remembered.
  • Occupancy by lot, so you can see which part of the yard is earning and which is idle.
  • Aging report for receivables — who is late and by how long.
  • Filters by lot, spot type, payment method and customer.
  • CSV export on the revenue view, so your bookkeeper gets a file instead of a screenshot.

Logs — a record of who did what

Assignments, payments, edits and messages are written to an activity log against the signed-in user. When a customer disputes a date or a charge, the answer is a lookup rather than an argument.

Settings and Admin

Yard name, lots, spot types, rates and app users live here. These two tabs are also the role boundary: staff accounts do not see them.

Ask Young Boss AI

Built into the app is an assistant that reads your live yard data and answers in plain language. Ask “who is overdue right now, and how much is outstanding in total?” and it returns the customers, their spots, their balances, the dates they are paid through, and the total — because it is querying the yard, not guessing.

It works across transactions, financial summaries, the aging report and individual customer ledgers, and it can act as well as answer: record a payment, open a message to a customer, jump to a screen, or export a CSV. For an operator who does not want to learn where every report lives, it is the shortest path between a question and an answer.

The yard exists in one format and the records in another. Closing that gap is the whole job.

Built for Canadian yards

Two things that sound small and are not, if you operate here.

Tax is split out everywhere. Parking and the 13% tax are separated on receipts, in reports, in CSV exports and in what the assistant tells you — so a revenue figure reads as $15,145 parking + $1,848 tax, not one blended number your bookkeeper has to unpick.

Payment methods that match reality. Card, cash, cheque, e-transfer and Interac are all first-class methods, because yards genuinely get paid every one of those ways — and a payment recorded against a spot flows straight into the balance, the aging report and the month’s revenue.

Roles: what staff see, what owners see

Two levels. Admin sees everything, including Settings and Admin. Staff keep the map, customers, reports, payments and logs, and lose the two configuration tabs. Gate staff can do the job without being able to change your rates.

Built to fit your operation

Every yard runs differently. Rates differ by spot type, by customer and by season. Some yards bill monthly in advance, some daily on exit. Some let gate staff assign spots, some require a manager. Some need reefer power tracked, some need oversize separated, some need a customer to see only their own trucks.

Those are not preferences to be configured around the edges of someone else’s software. They are how your business works. So we start from a platform that already runs — the map, the customers, the money, the log, the assistant — and shape it to your operation instead of asking you to reshape your operation to fit the software.

That is the part a subscription product cannot do. It is also the part we do for a living: this is the same custom software practice that builds portals, dashboards and internal tools for other businesses, and the same automation and AI work that put the assistant inside this one.

How a build works

  1. A live walkthrough on your numbers. We load a yard that looks like yours and you drive it. Half an hour tells you more than a feature list.
  2. We map your operation. Lots, spot types, rates, billing cycle, who is allowed to do what, and what has to reach your accountant.
  3. Your yard drawn in. Your real site plan becomes the map, spot by spot.
  4. Build and hardening. The database, real payment processing, role enforcement and backups — the production layer under the product you already saw working.
  5. Rollout with your staff. Gate staff learn the map in one shift; it looks like the yard they already know.
  6. Support and iteration. Yards change. Software that cannot follow becomes the next whiteboard.

Frequently asked questions

What is truck yard management software?

Truck yard management software tracks which trucks and trailers are parked where in a yard, who they belong to, what each customer owes and when their rental ends. Young Boss Parking does this on a live map of your real site plan, with customer accounts, accounting reports and an activity log attached to every spot.

How many yards use Young Boss Parking?

Four yards run on it today. It is a working platform rather than a pilot — the map, customer accounts, accounting and the AI assistant are all in daily use, which is why a walkthrough shows you the real thing instead of a prototype.

Is Young Boss Parking a subscription product?

No. It is a working platform we tailor to your operation and deploy for you. You see it running first, then we build it around how your yard actually works — your lots, spot types, rates and rules. Pricing depends on that scope, so we quote after a walkthrough rather than publishing tiers.

Can it handle more than one lot or yard?

Yes. Spots are grouped into lots, and the map, filters and reports all work per lot — including occupancy broken out lot by lot, so you can see which parts of the yard earn and which sit idle.

Does it handle Canadian tax?

Yes. Parking and the 13% tax are separated everywhere they appear — receipts, reports, CSV exports and the AI assistant’s answers — so your bookkeeper never has to unpick a blended total.

What can the AI assistant actually do?

It reads live yard data and answers questions in plain language, covering transactions, financial summaries, the aging report and individual customer ledgers. It can also act: record a payment, open a message to a customer, navigate to a screen, or export a CSV.

Can gate staff use it without seeing everything?

Yes. Staff accounts keep the map, customers, reports, payments and logs, and lose the Settings and Admin tabs. Gate staff can place trucks and take payments without being able to change rates or configuration.

How long does a deployment take?

You can see a walkthrough on a yard like yours immediately. A tailored deployment depends on scope — how many lots, how complex the rates and billing rules are, and what has to integrate with your accounting. We give you a real timeline after mapping your operation, not before.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It runs in the browser on a phone as well as a laptop, which matters because the person who needs the map most is usually standing in the yard.
